Capileira to Pitres 
a delightful walk over the mountains 
 
Capileira is set at 1,436 metres altitude, at the top of the Poqueira gorge, climbing towards Valeta.  It is a delightful village to explore, either before or after, you have completed the walk.  Mr Brown's leather shop, opposite the bus stop, is a "must visit"; handbags, belts, hats, trousers and leather jackets of excellent quality and at amazing prices.  There are many attractive bars, but a restaurant serving excellent dishes is Los Costanios, in the main plaza, opposite the Church.  If you are eager for a strenuous walk then Capileira is a good starting point to walk up Mulhacen  However, if just over an hour's walk over the mountain, to enjoy a drink and a tapas in a bar, before walking back is far enough then this is what you will see:-
